State of the Church Report 2018 Pastor Tom Anderson The state of Highland United Methodist Church is vibrant and strong.
Here’s just a few highlights of the rich harvest
that has been produced for the Kingdom of God here:
Connect Year to date 20 persons have connected with Jesus Christ, repenting of sin, confessing faith in him and becoming members.
378 people attended our Easter services—the largest crowd we’ve had in years. Almost 200 joined us for a catered breakfast.
A new Men’s open Pickle ball game night began this year on Thursday nights. A new open Volleyball night on Fridays has formed this fall.
Our Administrative Council created a new Vision and Values statement after an all-church strategic planning Saturday.
We opened our building as a polling place, hosted 2 blood drives,
The Dance Project and our Annual Rummage sale.
We held a first-ever women’s retreat and formed a new fellowship “Sister2Sister”.
Grow Our congregation has been involved in reading through the New Testament in one year. Sermons and study groups have formed around this project.
More than 100 adults participate in small group fellowship and study ministries at HUMC
A new Disciple Bible Study Fast Track was launched this fall with 8 students.
48 people participated in a 24 hour prayer vigil for Miracle Sunday.
A 21 day stewardship devotional program was held called “Graced by the Fruit of Our Labors” Commitment Sunday was Oct 28.
20 people participated in the “Living Faithfully” study
prepared for the major changes in the UMC.
The Administrative Council members read our UM Social Principles as well as the book Is God Anti-Gay? By Sam Allberry.
Serve Our men’s fellowship paid for and built 2 handicap ramps.
We re-launched a team for “Rebuilding Together”
We sent 30 teens to Flint Mission for 1 week.
We sent 7 adults to JAARS mission in North Carolina for 1 week.
More than 40 adults and youth participated in leading our
“Rolling River Rampage”Bible School.
We raised over $5000 for our Mexican mission at the Rummage Sale.
Our youth led us in raising over $300,000 on our Miracle Sunday in April!
Volunteers re-roofed the parsonage.
Volunteers cleaned out our Trustee room and re-painted the cross on top of the building.
