Simpson Park Camp Meeting

By Pastor Tom Anderson

Simpson Park Camp began as the Romeo District Summer Camp for the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1865. It is one of the oldest camp meetings in continuous service in Michigan.

This summer’s camp meeting is July 22-31 and features inspiration preaching each day, intergenerational activities, cabin rental, RV sites, dining hall service and great fellowship. I will be preaching at the morning session on July 30 and I invite you to consider joining Karen and I for this week of revival, restoration and rejoicing in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The camp is located in Romeo, Michigan, about an hour’s drive from Highland. Lodging costs for the week are $200 for RV’s, $150 for tents and pop-ups and $200 for a cabin.

Special speakers include: Dr. Victor Hamilton who taught for over 35 years at Asbury University reaching thousands of students. He served as the Professor of Old Testament and Theology and professor emeritus of Old Testament at Asbury. Victor has had the privilege to lecture and preach at a number of other college campuses, as well as speak in churches, retreats, pastors’ seminars, family conferences, camp meetings, and overseas. He has authored many books that mainly focus on the Old Testament and its teachings.

And also: Dr. Ken Nash who serves as the Lead Pastor at Cornerstone Church in Caledonia, Michigan. Prior to that he pastored at Watermark Wesleyan near Buffalo, New York. He has taught at dozens of conferences around the country throughout his 20 years as pastor and is currently coaching many multi-site church planters. Having written his dissertation on multi-site ministry through his doctoral studies, Ken is well versed in the fluid dynamics at work in this form of outreach.

Worship and praise leader for the week is Connor Roy is an award-winning singer/songwriter and Worship Leader from Detroit, Michigan. Connor has had the privilege of sharing the stage with a number of artists both locally and nationally, including Third Day, Jordan Feliz, We Are Messengers, Matt Maher, Jason Gray, Riley Clemons, Unspoken, and many more. Connor has toured the Midwest, East Coast, and parts of the Northeast. He strives to bring a message of hope and love through his music. He says that his faith in Jesus is what motivates him to continue making music. Connor is excited to set the atmosphere of worship through music at this year's Annual Camp Meeting! While he will be leading us with familiar hymns and contemporary worship songs, Connor has been writing original music since the young age of 12 and will have original music in the form of CD's available for purchase at the camp among other various merch items. Proceeds from sales will help him continue in music ministry. You will enjoy Connor's music if you are a fan of Jeremy Camp, Jordan Feliz, Switchfoot, Needtobreathe, Third Day, Imagine Dragons, or Ed Sheeran.

Karen and I would love to see you there! Find out more about the camp at https://www.simpsonparkcamp.org/family-camp or call them at 586-752-3202
